We begin with the spirited Overture in C by Marianna Martines, an 18th-century composer whose lively and sophisticated style shines in this delightful work, rediscovered and re-embraced by modern audiences. Next, renowned clarinetist Jeff Anderle brings his expressive artistry to John Russel’s Bass Clarinet Concerto, a powerful and evocative piece that explores the full range and rich tones of this unique instrument. Finally, we close with Janáček’s Suite from The Cunning Little Vixen, a lush and whimsical portrayal of nature and the cycle of life, inspired by the composer’s beloved opera.
